Join us for a colourful spring escape to the New South Wales Riverina and experience the charm of the Griffith Spring Festival. Based in Griffith for four nights, this relaxing tour showcases the region’s famous Citrus Sculptures, beautiful open gardens, local produce, wineries and fascinating agricultural industries. Discover Griffith, Leeton, Whitton and the surrounding Riverina, while enjoying country hospitality, guided touring and the unique stories of one of Australia’s most productive food and wine regions.
Day 1 – Journey to Griffith
Travel through North East Victoria and into the New South Wales Riverina, enjoying the changing countryside along the way. After lunch in Rutherglen, we continue to Griffith, our home for the next four nights. This evening, settle into your accommodation and enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers.
Day 2 – Griffith Spring Festival & Citrus Sculptures
Today we begin exploring Griffith and the colour of the Spring Festival. Visit the Griffith Tourism Hub to learn more about the region before joining a local guide for a guided town tour, taking in Griffith’s history, scenic sites and important local industries. We also visit the Griffith Regional Theatre to view the impressive Soft Sculptured Curtain before enjoying time amongst the famous Citrus Sculptures, created from thousands of locally grown oranges and grapefruit.
Day 3 – Open Gardens, Pioneer Park & Local Stories
A highlight of the festival is the opportunity to visit beautiful private gardens opened especially for Spring Fest. These lovingly cared-for gardens showcase the colour and creativity of local gardeners and are a wonderful part of the Griffith Spring Festival experience. We also visit Griffith Pioneer Park Museum, where the region’s early settlement history and strong Italian heritage are brought to life through fascinating displays and stories.
Day 4 – Leeton, Whitton & Riverina Produce
Today we explore more of the Riverina, including Leeton, Whitton and the surrounding agricultural districts. Enjoy a guided tour of Leeton, known for its well-preserved Art Deco buildings, and learn about the region’s rich food production through a local produce experience or winery visit. We also visit Southern Cotton Gin at Whitton and enjoy a seasonal farm tour, gaining an insight into the irrigation, crops and industries that make the Riverina one of Australia’s most important food-producing regions.
Day 5 – Farewell Griffith
After breakfast we farewell the Griffith district and begin our journey home through regional New South Wales and North East Victoria. Sit back and relax as we travel through changing country landscapes, arriving home with wonderful memories of the Griffith Spring Festival and the beautiful Riverina region.
