Day 1 – Melbourne to Mildura

Travel north through Victoria’s country towns via the Calder Highway to Mildura. Enjoy changing rural landscapes before settling into your overnight accommodation and a relaxing dinner.

Day 2 – Mildura to Broken Hill

Cross into Outback New South Wales via Wentworth and the junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers before travelling the Silver City Highway to Broken Hill. This afternoon enjoy a guided sightseeing tour with a local expert, discovering the city’s remarkable mining heritage, historic streetscapes and the famous Line of Lode Memorial.

Day 3 – Discover Broken Hill

Spend today exploring the many attractions that have made Broken Hill one of Australia’s most fascinating regional cities. Visit White’s Mineral Art & Mining Museum, admire the enormous “Big Picture” at the Silver City Mint, browse Jack Absalom’s famous gallery, and finish the day among the spectacular sandstone sculptures of the Living Desert Reserve overlooking the vast Outback.

Day 4 – Silverton & Outback Icons

Today’s highlights include the Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre and the renowned Pro Hart Gallery before travelling to the historic mining village of Silverton. Wander its heritage streets, visit famous film locations and soak up the authentic Outback atmosphere before enjoying breathtaking panoramic views from Mundi Mundi Lookout.

Day 5 – Broken Hill to Mildura

Farewell Broken Hill and return south to Mildura. This afternoon relax aboard the beautifully restored steam-driven paddlesteamer PS Melbourne, cruising the Murray River through Lock 11 while enjoying the peaceful scenery before your final overnight stay.

Day 6 – Mildura to Home

Travel home through north-west Victoria via Ouyen, St Arnaud and Ballarat, arriving back with wonderful memories of Australia’s remarkable Outback and Murray River regions
