Day 1 – Port Fairy to Mount Gambier
Travel through South West Victoria, stopping in the historic fishing village of Port Fairy before crossing into South Australia. This afternoon arrive in Mount Gambier, a thriving regional city set amongst volcanic landscapes, lakes and limestone formations, where we enjoy our overnight stay.
Day 2 – Coorong National Park & Murray River Dinner Cruise
Travel through the spectacular Coorong National Park, one of Australia’s most important wetland environments and home to abundant birdlife and stunning coastal scenery. This evening enjoy a memorable Murray River dinner cruise aboard Captain Proud Cruises, taking in beautiful river views as the sun sets over the Murray.
Day 3 – Kangaroo Island Sealink Ferry, Penneshaw & Kingscote
Travel through the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula before boarding the Kangaroo Island Sealink Ferry for the crossing of Backstairs Passage. On arrival, enjoy sightseeing around the island before continuing to Kingscote for a relaxing three-night stay overlooking beautiful Nepean Bay.
Day 4 – Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, American River & Clifford’s Honey Farm
Today we explore the picturesque Dudley Peninsula. Visit Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, South Australia’s first lighthouse, learn about Kangaroo Island’s eucalyptus oil industry at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, and enjoy time at the peaceful township of American River. We also visit Clifford’s Honey Farm to discover the island’s unique Ligurian bees and sample local honey products.
Day 5 – Flinders Chase National Park, Seal Bay & Emu Bay
A highlight day exploring Kangaroo Island’s world-famous natural attractions. Visit Flinders Chase National Park, home to Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and Cape du Couedic. Experience the unforgettable Seal Bay Conservation Park, where Australian sea lions can be observed in their natural habitat, and visit beautiful Emu Bay with its long white sandy beach.
Day 6 – Victor Harbor, Encounter Bay & Mannum
Farewell Kangaroo Island and return to the mainland by ferry. Travel through the scenic Fleurieu Peninsula to Victor Harbor, one of South Australia’s most popular seaside towns. Enjoy spectacular coastal views before continuing to the Murray River township of Mannum for our overnight stay.
Day 7 – Keith, Bordertown, Western Victoria to Home
Travel through South Australia’s agricultural heartland and Western Victoria before arriving home, bringing to a close a wonderful South Australian adventure.
