Day 1 – Journey to Narrandera
Relax and enjoy the changing scenery as we travel through North East Victoria and into the New South Wales Riverina. After lunch in the historic town of Rutherglen, we continue to Narrandera, our home for the next four nights. This evening, settle into your accommodation and enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow travellers.
Day 2 – Coolamon & Junee Heritage Trail
Today we explore the charming Riverina towns of Coolamon and Junee, both rich in history and rural character. Highlights include the famous Junee Licorice & Chocolate Factory, where we learn about the production of their popular treats, as well as the Classic Car Garage Museum. We also visit the historic Junee Roundhouse Railway Museum, one of the few surviving railway roundhouses in the Southern Hemisphere.
Day 3 – Leeton, Whitton & Griffith
Discover the agricultural heart of the Riverina as we visit Leeton, Whitton and Griffith. Learn about the region’s irrigation and farming industries, enjoy local produce experiences and gain an insight into the important role agriculture plays in the area’s success. A guided tour of Griffith reveals the city’s rich multicultural heritage, local industries and fascinating history.
Day 4 – Temora Aviation Museum & Cootamundra
A highlight of the tour, today we visit the renowned Temora Aviation Museum, home to one of Australia’s finest collections of historic military aircraft. After lunch in Cootamundra, we visit the birthplace of Sir Donald Bradman and learn about the life of Australia’s greatest cricketer. We also explore the unique Captains Walk, featuring bronze sculptures commemorating Australia’s Test cricket captains.
Day 5 – Farewell the Riverina
After breakfast we farewell Narrandera and begin our journey home through regional New South Wales and North East Victoria. Sit back, relax and enjoy the countryside as we travel south, reflecting on the fascinating history, local industries and country hospitality experienced throughout the Riverina.
