Day 1 – Journey to Mount Gambier

Sit back and relax as we travel through the picturesque landscapes of South West Victoria and into South Australia. Passing through historic country towns and farming districts, we arrive in Mount Gambier, our home for the next four nights. This evening, settle into your accommodation and enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers.

Day 2 – Mount Gambier, Blue Lake & Port MacDonnell

Today we discover the natural wonders that make Mount Gambier one of South Australia’s most fascinating destinations. Highlights include the beautiful Umpherston Sinkhole, Valley Lake and the famous Blue Lake, renowned for its striking seasonal colour changes. This afternoon we explore Port MacDonnell, Australia’s southernmost port, and enjoy spectacular coastal views from Cape Northumberland before returning to Mount Gambier.

Day 3 – Beachport, Woakwine Cutting & Robe

Enjoy a scenic day exploring the Limestone Coast’s charming seaside towns. We visit Beachport, known for its relaxed coastal atmosphere and beautiful surrounds, before viewing the impressive Woakwine Cutting, one of Australia’s most remarkable engineering achievements. After lunch in historic Robe, we discover the town’s rich maritime and Chinese migration history before returning to Mount Gambier.

Day 4 – Penola & Glenelg River Dinner Cruise

This morning we visit the fascinating Blue Lake Pumping Station to learn about Mount Gambier’s unique underground water system. We then travel to the historic town of Penola, famous for its heritage buildings and charming Petticoat Lane precinct. Later, we enjoy a memorable evening aboard the Nelson Explorer, cruising the beautiful Glenelg River while enjoying a delicious dinner and stunning river scenery.

Day 5 – Port Fairy & Journey Home

After breakfast we farewell Mount Gambier and begin our journey home along Victoria’s spectacular south-west coast. We pause in the historic fishing village of Port Fairy before continuing through Warrnambool and the Western District. Relax and enjoy the changing scenery as we return home with wonderful memories of South Australia’s beautiful Limestone Coast.
